Pupils at Lord Wilson School in Sarisbury Green achieved their best ever GCSE and Entry Level exam results.

Nineteen Year 11 students at the small all-boys Behavioural, Emotional and Social Difficulties (BESD) school in Montefiore Way, took GCSE and Entry Level examinations this year across a variety of subjects including English, Maths and Science.

There were 12 students who sat GCSEs, with a 100 per cent pass rate at grades A* to G. While seven pupils sat Entry Level exams, which are those taken prior to GCSEs, which also had a 100 per cent pass rate in levels 1, 2 and 3.

There were 122 passes in total of the GCSE and entry level exams taken – including 84 in GCSE subjects at grades A* to G of which 36 were in English, Maths and Science.

Five students achieved five or more GCSEs, including English and Maths.

Head teacher Stuart Tyreman said: “These are the best results the school has had to date. Our highest grades came in Maths, Science and Art – but all subjects improved significantly on last year – well done!

“This is a significant improvement, but our cohorts from year to year do change significantly due to the specialism of the school.

“The school and governors are extremely proud of our students’ achievements this year and the results are a credit to their hard work and efforts throughout their time with us at Lord Wilson.”

He said pupils were also awaiting NVQ examination results, which the students undertake part-time at college.
